About

I’ll be leaving the old About pieces up so you can see where we’ve come from.

Incessant Experiences is about experiences, and incessantly seeking them.  But it’s more than that, it’s a constant search for the story of the experience, the characters, the relationships, the actions and reactions and the feelings the come along with it all.  It’s about speaking truthfully, transparency, no bullshit, promise.

We don’t make money off this.  We do this for a lot of reasons, but suffice that we do this and we hope you enjoy it and we make a concerted effort to be creative, original and story tellers.

There will be the odd posting that isn’t really creative, isn’t that deep, is almost fluff, but hopefully there will always be a story in it, whether our own story, or us sharing another’s story.

Our hope is that you’ll leave here seeking life through experiences, gaining knowledge and stepping off the curb, metaphorically of course (we’d rather you not step in front of the buses), walking across the street and checking out the theater you’ve always meant to go to, the concert or play you’ve always thought would be interesting, the $80 flight to a city two states away for a weekend just because you can.  Or the $500 flight to another country, just because…Why not?

We’ve only got this life to live and regardless fo what paradise you hope for once you’re dead, there is no doubting that your life is over, at least here, once you’ve died and so we should live it, and love life, and people.

I’m going to steal a line from David Foster Wallace, from his speech at the commencement ceremony of Kenyon College:

The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day…. The only thing that’s capital-T True is that you get to decide how you’re going to try to see it. You get to consciously decide what has meaning and what doesn’t…. The trick is keeping the truth up-front in daily consciousness.

And this is what we hope we can do for you, provide a little kick to draw your attention to something, provide a little more awareness, hopefully instill in you a discipline and desire for truth.  To help you care about people, the world, your life enough to sacrifice for them, over and over in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.  Because, it’s true, the only thing that is true is the lens through which you see life, and what’s in focus is determined by how you turn the ring (to drag the metaphor on).  Only you get to decide what experiences in life are meaningful and what aren’t, and hopefully, through little observations you’ll begin to see that it all has meaning, if only you would take a moment and look, see, watch and think about your surroundings, about why people sit in a cafe or a bar, drink coffee or beer, eat biscottis or peanuts.

Just remember to keep the truth up-front.

Here at Incessant Experiences we hope to provide you with quality writing.  None of the bull-shit Top 10 lists, we’ll even limit our clichés down.  We want to provide you with young thoughts, through quality criticism.  Not only that, but we want to entertain you, challenge you and make you think and spur you to create yourself.  We have many different categories of content for you to explore.  All of our writing will either fall under Fiction or Non-Fiction.  We’ll be speaking about foreign policy and international politics, predominantly, and occasionally descend into domestic politics (that being whatever country the author is living in at the time…AND America).  We’ll be providing you with original, creative literature, poetry, photography and hopefully, eventually video.

Also, in the coming weeks we may have another little surprise up our sleeve, so stay tuned for the comic..the other thing, I mean that…we might get…

Welcome to Incessant Experiences, a place for myself a burgeoning writer to do just that, grow.  I’m dabbling in photography as I purchased a brand new Canon T-70 for $60 off Craigslist and now love shooting pictures.

Incessant Experiences is a way to share in a professional manner my content in all the ways you’ll find here.  There will be other authors, contributors and editors posting here in order to improve Incessant Experiences and give everyone more exposure.  Namely, my older brother, Daniel.

My wish is that Incessant Experiences grows to something more than what it is now, organically without being forced, but adapting to the needs of the authors.  If you’ve any ideas, please share.

I hope you enjoy the time you spend here.

Cheers,
J.E. Krauss

P.S.  I And please share my blog.  Thanks!
